Ikkyo

Start ikkyo as if drawing a sword.

I've found a video recently (see below). In the video, the above tip is demonstrated by Nishio Sensei (from 38 to 50 secs).
I've also tried out this approach in my training, and ikkyo has quickly changed into a relaxed and easy movement. When drawing it, you grab the sword and connect with the straight forward movement of the attacker, and your sword-drawing movement will become almost undetectable for the attacker. It's very easy to execute a cut to the head like this. Look at how Nishio Sensei is holding his arm. The arm shouldn't be turned immediately towards the attacker because that would break the movement and you couldn't use the natural way of moving your arm, and circular movements would not appear easily either.
