Experts comment on your technique

In this page, we will list several aikido-related videos found online (for example, in YouTube) and analyse them. You are more than welcome to join and say whether you agree or not, whether you liked the video or not.

 

Most importantly, if you would like to get some feedback from us or from other OnlineAikido.com members, upload your video to some video hosting site and send us the link (we will be able to host videos ourselves, but a bit later). If you prefer not to allow everyone to comment on your technique, just let us know and we will restrict comments to those who have registered, or to you and us only.

How NOT to do shihonage, common errors:

  • defender pivots in front of the attacker
  • attacker remains stable when the defender turns
  • cut from an improper position
  • cut not into the back irimi point
  • defender and attacker’s positions are parallel to each other when cutting and when finishing the technique

  • cut is not started from an appropriate position
  • sankyo grab and problems with twisting the attacker’s arm
  • improper position for the cut
