Failure and success

Failure and success

I was translating the latest two Analysis videos when I came across a quote from O'Sensei. I think, for some people, it's really hard to understand this sentence, including me.
"Failure is the key to success; each mistake teaches us something."
I tend to be a perfectionist and sometimes I don't do anything unless I can do it almost perfectly. This, obviously won't lead to so frequent failures but it slows down the process of development. What do you think about this?

You don't have to be afraid of mistakes or failures. You have to turn the negative feelings the mistake causes into positive ones. You should see the positive side of failure. If you are conscious you can pay attention not  to do the same mistakes again. So you can step forward on your way.

Also, sometimes you make a mistake in front of the others and you feel SO ashamed that you NEVER forget how not to make that mistake again. And probably you smile at yourself every time you remember it. I think the point is learn to forgive yourself for your mistakes, specially those you made because you weren't in the know or you didn't have enough experience.
